Margaret Holloway is the Managing Partner of Halverson Reed Strategy and the architect of the firm's modern practice. She joined the firm in 2008 as a Principal under Margaret Reed and assumed the Managing Partner role in 2016, leading the reconstitution that defines the contemporary firm.
Before Halverson Reed, Holloway spent seven years at McKinsey & Company in Chicago, where she advised industrial and consumer clients as a Senior Engagement Manager. She earned her MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management and her BA in Economics from Williams College, where she also rowed varsity. She is regularly cited by clients for her unwillingness to take an engagement she does not personally believe in — a discipline she credits to Margaret Reed, with whom she still meets several times a year.
Holloway sits on the boards of two privately held mid-market companies and serves as a trustee of a Chicago-area educational foundation. She has been a featured speaker at the University of Chicago's Booth Private Equity Conference and the Kellogg Center for Family Enterprises. She lives in Lake Forest, Illinois, with her family, and is most frequently found, when not in client meetings, on the water.
Her writing concentrates on succession in family-owned businesses, the discipline of mid-market consulting, and the patterns that distinguish enduring firms from fashionable ones.
